No animal is ever a lost cause.

It is disturbing to know that while many pets reside comfortably in loving homes, there are millions that roam the streets or live in animal shelters, waiting and hoping for caring guardians of their own.  Sadly, far too many of these precious lives end abruptly due to illness, accidents or euthanasia in overcrowded shelters.  In Rover’s Rescues, author Joy Lee narrates the stories of a number of fortunate dogs who were guests at Citizens for Animal Protection or Rover Oaks Pet Resort, their quirks and personality traits, their challenges to becoming ‘adoptable’ and ultimately, their happy endings.

Rover’s Rescues relates the touching stories of twenty-five canine visitors that searched and found loving homes with the help of dedicated shelter staff and a unique relationship with a local pet resort and training facility.

Lee’s passion for saving homeless animals began with the adoption of one small dog rescued from the city pound.  Several years later, she adopted a second canine companion who was saved in a Humane Society raid on a substandard breeding facility.  With this adoption, she learned about the inhumane conditions, cruel treatment and profit motivations in puppy mills.  She was inspired to begin a second career in the pet care industry, and began by volunteering at a local animal shelter where she took a number of classes on animal behavior and training, and worked with the dogs to help them find loving homes.

Readers will meet Lee’s cute and cuddly fur-kids and may gain some useful information about common (and not-so-common) canine health and behavior problems that they may find in their own pets.  Inspirational and informative, Lee encourages readers to adopt homeless animals and reap the rewards of providing them loving homes.
